 National Guideline Clearinghouse  Free resource from the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality of the US Department of Health and Human Services.  Searchable, browsable database includes links to evidence-based current clinical practice guidelines. 

 NLM  Access to National Library of Medicine’s homepage with news from NLM, HIV/AIDS resources, Visible Human Project and free access to PubMed.

 PubMed  Search system from the National Library of Medicine for locating citations to biomedical journal articles via MEDLINE.

 Medscape   Customizable news and education resource for health professionals.  Free; registrations required.

 MEDLINEplus  The National Library of Medicine’s free consumer health and patient education resource. It offers authoritative and accurate information on more than 700 health topics from federal and state agencies, health organizations, medical associations, and more. Interactive animated tutorials are especially helpful for patients.  Most materials are available in English and Spanish. 

 Merck Manual  Eighteenth edition of the popular handbook.

 Merck Medicus  A commercial site for physicians and other health providers, with access to MD Consult, Harrison’s Online, CME, patient handouts, and other useful resources. Free, requires registration. 

 National Rehabilitation Information Center  Includes the NARIC 70,000+ resource library and related databases, a calendar of events and current awareness bulletins.

 NIAAA  National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism - Pamphlets and brochures (both English and Spanish), Alcohol Alert, Alcohol Research & Health, reports and training materials. 

NIDA  National Institute on Drug Abuse - reports and research summaries focusing on improving drug abuse and addiction prevention, and treatment programs.
